I got lost on the way to the Ogden Dee Events Center and was late for the race. I was literally pinning my number on during the 1st 1000 yds of the race. This is not an easy course, very very hilly. There is hardly a flat section. You hit a hill right off the starting line, then go back up that same hill on the way back at about mile 7. It was relentless. I was happy with my performance I finished under 1:20, which is what I wanted to do. Althought the last uphill at about mile 9.5, truly hurt. I recovered on the downhill, but slowed way down to do it. There was a spot at the event center parking lot near the finish where you could short cut and cheat, and I don't know if the guy I got in the sprint with at the finish took it, but he showed up awful quick. I sprinted him to the finish and he beat me by about 2 feet. I finished 50th instead of 49th. Yes a sprint finish for 49th place, that's competition !!!! It was fun, and I'd do it again. You got a nice tee shirt, and it was well organized. I cooled down with two miles back in Salt Lake with the dog. |
