Personal:

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. After the birth of my son in 2001 my fitness declined to a pathetic level. I have been running regularly since 2002. I currently run about 35 - 40 miles a week.

Waited until it stopped raining. Jogged slow with the dog for a mile, then did a few hills. Felt great. The dog likes jogging with me, but I'm not so sure the opposite is true.

Ran the St. George Marathon. My training, or lack there of, payed off. What a great race. I was worried going in. I ran the TOU 2 weeks ago and suffered cramps the last mile or so. So I sort-of stopped training. I did one long one a week ago Friday, and ran the U of U Alumni 5K fast the next day, but the rest was minimal, 2 miles max. I think the difference was sleep, and food before the race. I stayed in Cedar City the night before and slept great, and had Mexican food. I started between the 3:20 and 3:30 pacers. About mile 7 or 8 I saw the pacer. I almost caught up about 12, but got dropped at the mile 13 aid station. I slowed way down at all the aid stations. I never lost sight of the pacer, and about mile 20 mile, I cranked it up to 6:30- 6:40 miles, and caught back up. It turned out it was the 3:10 pacer. He really helped me the last mile. I finished in 3:09 a new PR. I felt great at the end too. Drove back to SLC and hiked a few miles with the dog. Pretty happy with the results. Thinking about the California International.

A little sore from yesterday. Did the 2 mile loop through the neighborhood.

Still sore from Saturday, but feel pretty good. I noticed you can get an automatic (no lottery) entry into St. George 2007 if you participate in the St. George winter race series.

Ran a slow 1 mile on hills, went back home and got the dog and walked another mile or so. Felt good, soreness is gone from St. George. Fell asleep on the couch watching Alien II, I have a feeling I know how it ended.

Woke up early. Ran down 3rd Ave to Memory Grove, up and East on 11th Ave. Ran on the trail behind the hospital, not a good idea in the dark. Crossed the legacy bridge and through campus + home. I love running in the early morning, the homeless, drunks, other joggers, various delivery people, no cars.

Ran slow on the uphill, but picked things way up on the way home. I felt really good. Ran through the Aves to Memory Grove, climbed up to the 1st microwave tower on the trail, to the BST, and back to City Creek then home on 11th through the U of U.
