Personal:

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. After the birth of my son in 2001 my fitness declined to a pathetic level. I have been running regularly since 2002. I currently run about 35 - 40 miles a week.

Ran the Salt Lake 1/2 Marathon. I felt horrible the first 4 miles. I had to stop at the top of Little Mtn, and get it back together. I finished strong, and felt good at the finish. I think if it hadn't been for my bad start I would have had my personal best on this course. My pre-race raisin bran did not sit well, back to honey nut cheerios I guess.

Ran the Mid Mountain Marathon in Park City. It was the third leg of the Triple Trail Challenge. The MMM is some hard running, almost all on single track trails. The trail is beautiful though with the fall colors. I took a digger at about mile 13, luckily it wasn't too rocky. I really slowed down after that. I cut my face, arm and leg, and got totally covered in dust and mud. My shirt will never be the same. I guess I'm just lucky that's all that got hurt. I managed to finish in about 4:43. I felt great at the end, a little wobbly maybe. Went on a 3 mile hike in the afternoon.

Slow jog around the neighborhood. I'm sore from yesterday. I think the sorest part of me is my ribs. I must have bruised them in the fall. It hurts when I laugh.

I think I hurt myself in the fall on Saturday.

Had to stop. My shoulder is incredibly sore, hurts more now than when I fell. May take a few (more) days off, not sure if I should go to the Dr. I think Tuesday made it worse.

Walked 18 holes, I figured about 2 miles. I didn't shoot too bad, but my ribs are still sore. Legs are in great shape, not sore at all.

My ribs are still sore. Ran south to about 3900 S. and back, stopped at the library on 33rd on the way back for a while.

Ran the TOU Marathon in Logan. That's a pretty fun marathon. I'd do that one again. It was freezing at the top, I was cold the whole race. I need to wear more clothes next time. I felt surprisingly good considering my training consisted playing golf, walking, biking, and one long run. About mile 19.5 there was a girl puking on the side of the road that I passed, and I started not feeling so good myself. I didn't need to see that. I got it back together and tried to pick it up for the finish, but I started to cramp at about mile 25.5. I slowed way down for the finish line. Finished in about 3:30. I came home and went on a hike for another 2 miles in the afternoon. I ran the TOU with a left shoe from an old pair of shoes with about 400 miles on them and the right was a newer shoe with about 75 miles. It was the same color/brand except the older shoe was little dirtier. It felt wierd at first then I forgot about it.

Woke up at 3:00 am, tried to run, but decided I needed to go back to bed after a 1/2 mile.

I think I have fully recovered from my fall at the Mid-Mountain. I think I need better trail-run shoes. Ran up to 11th Ave, pretty relaxed pace. Been considering running the California International Marathon in December or maybe the City of Trees in Boise in November. I need another BQ. Probably could have done it at the TOU, but it wasn't really part of the plan. There was also the shoe issue, at least I had a right and a left shoe. I'm going to take a wait and see approach to the 5K on Saturday.

Bountiful, up North Canyon and down Mueller Park. Great Trail, but they need to do the odd/even day bike/hike thing.

Ran the U of U Alumni 5K. My GPS registered 3.25 miles, and it is pretty accurate. It took 22 minutes. There was a good hill from 100 S. across campus and up to the Huntsman Center. I can't remember if they said there were 465 people registered or 645. I was third in my age group. I haven't done that in a while.
